The famous riverbay in Picardie The Somme is a river in Picardy, northern France. The name Somme comes from a Celtic word meaning tranquility. The river is 245 km long, from its source in the high ground of the former Forest of Arrouaise at Fonsommes near Saint-Quentin, to the Bay of the Somme, in the English Channel. In 1991, the City of Oshawa commissioned a study of land use around the Oshawa Harbour. So of the issues the study dealt with was the contamination of the Harbour lands from the former industrial dump and contamination from oil and coal.
